রাজধানীর শ্যামলীতে একজন আনসার সদস্যকে গুলি করে হত্যার দায়ে তিন ছিনতাইকারীকে মৃত্যুদণ্ড দেওয়া হয়েছে। আজ বুধবার ঢাকার দ্রুত বিচার ট্রাইব্যুনাল-১ এর বিচারক আবু জাফর মো. কামরুজ্জামান এই রায় দেন।
মৃত্যুদণ্ডপ্রাপ্ত তিন আসামি হলেন পাপ্পু ওরফে অন্তু, তারিকুর রহমান ওরফে শিবলী হোসেন ওরফে উজ্জ্বল ও শুক্কুর আলী রওফে সোহেল। তিনজনই পলাতক রয়েছেন। ট্রাইব্যুনাল রায়ে বলেছেন, তিনজন গ্রেপ্তার হওয়ার পর এই রায় কার্যকর হবে। তবে হাইকোর্টের অনুমোদন নিয়ে দণ্ড কার্যকর করতে হবে।
১৭ বছর আগে রাজধানীর শ্যামলীতে ২০০২ সালে রাজধানীর মোহাম্মদপুর থানার শ্যামলী এলাকায় পুলিশ কনস্টেবল আ. জলিল ফরাজী ও আনসার সদস্য ফজলুল হক ডিউটিতে ছিলেন। ঘটনার দিন বেলা ১টার দিকে শ্যামলীর ৩ নং রোডের মাথায় ফজলুল হক ও জলিল ফরাজী ছিনতাইকারীদের চ্যালেঞ্জ করলে ছিনতাইকারীরা গুলি করে। পাশে কর্তব্যরত আকমান হোসেন এগিয়ে গেলে তাকেও ছিনতাইকারীরা গুলি করে পালিয়ে যায়। এতে আনসার সদস্য ফজলুল হক গুরুতর আহত হন। তাকে উদ্ধার করে ঢাকা মেডিক্যাল কলেজ হাসপাতালে নিলে চিকিৎসক তাকে মৃত ঘোষণা করেন।
এ ঘটনায় পুলিশ সদস্য আকমান হোসেন মোহাম্মদপুর থানায় বাদী হয়ে একটি হত্যা মামলা করেন। ২০০৩ সালের ৩১ মার্চ মোহাম্মদপুর থানার উপ-পরিদর্শক নূরে আলম আসামিদের বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগপত্র দাখিল করেন। ২০০৪ সালের ১০ জানুয়ারি আসামিদের বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগ গঠন করেন আদালত। চার্জশিটভুক্ত ১৫ সাক্ষীর মধ্যে বিভিন্ন সময়ে ৮ জন সাক্ষ্য দেন।
